Moreover, he was a brilliant leader. He was fair, brave and gracious. Furthermore, Osman Gazi was only 23 years old when he took the control of the Kayi Clan in Sogut. He was the ruler of a small Turkic principality among many in the Anatolian region of Bithynia.
Through a series of victories against the Byzantine Empire, he would lay the foundation for his ancestors to build an empire spanning three continents, lasting centuries, and leaving its influence on the Middle East, Balkans, and the world. It is worth noting that he ascended the throne after the death of his father (Ertugrul).. And his rule lasted for 27 years until his death in 1326.
Life of Sultan Orhan Gazi:
Orhan Gazi was the second sultan of the Ottoman dynasty. He was the son of Osman Gazi, founder of the Ottoman Empire, and his mother was Mal Hatun. Orhan Gazi was born in 1281 in Sogut town. Like his father, he conducted many battles all through his life and conquered many lands.
In 1326 he captured Bursa and made it the capital of his Empire. Then he captured Iznik (Nicea), Mudurnu, Gemlik, Izmit, Ankara and.. And he extended the Ottoman Empire to the Asian shores of the Bosphorus as well as in Thrace. Sultan Orhan Gazi ruled for 34 years, between 1326 – 1360, the year of his death. He is buried in the türbe (tomb) with his wife and children, called Gümüşlü Kumbet in Bursa.

Tombs of Osman Gazi and Orhan Gazi are located in Osmangazi district of Bursa in the city center. Specifically, in the Tophane area, which includes the famous clock tower in Bursa, which was built by Sultan Abdul Hamid, and a memorial to the martyrs of the War of Independence. Osman Gazi and Orhan Gazi were buried inside a building called “Gümüşlü Kubbe”, (the Silver Dome), fulfilling Osman Gazi’s last will in doing so.
The structure, which shelters the tombs, is built where the place of the chapel of the St. Elias Monastery was situated, known to have been existing in this place since the 11th century. This chapel, converted into a mausoleum by the Ottomans, sustained major damage in the 1801 fire, and in the 1855 earthquake, respectively.
In 1863, it was re-built by Sultan Abdulaziz. This mausoleum is built with an octagonal plan. There are 20 sarcophaguses inside this mausoleum,, Including the tomb of his son Alaeddin, the tomb of the wife of his son Orhan Gazi and others.
